Flying Duets

Flying Duets is a personalised platform bringing actively together people with diverse social and cultural identities through art.
It is an initiative to activate a process of constructive social ‘osmosis’.
Opening up a dialogue between just two people at a time, within a distinctive space to freely interact beyond social norms and rigid mindframes.
Αn attempt to challenge preconceived views and prejudices, through unmediated human contact.
A chance to build social bridges, through a free process of co-creation, within a dynamic and constantly changing environment.
Duets are formed by individuals, from different strands of life and background; different social status, ethnicity, cultural values and physical abilities. Two people who rarely have the chance to meet, exchange views, interact and create a ‘bond’, in average everyday life, within the present sociopolitical structure and rhythms.
The regular sessions have flexible format, are based on movement exploration and experimentation, as the basis for transformative learning ‘through the other’; as the departure point for coexisting, communicating and creating together.
The platform aims to facilitate tolerance, understanding and acceptance both of self and the other, to promote smooth and constructive conflict resolution, non-violent communication, body reawakening and expression through movement.
Already activated mainly in Schloss Broellin art research center (Germany) and in Communitism (Greece),
as well as in several other spaces in Athens.

Supported by “START – Create Cultural Change”, a program of Robert Bosch Stiftung, conducted in cooperation with Goethe-Institut Thessaloniki and the German Association of Sociocultural Centers, supported by the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation and the Bodossaki Foundation.
