Street Horizons

A collective walk, a map in becoming, starting at the Piraeus train station and finishing at the Piraeus Municipal Theatre square. The spectators are invited to follow along, actively participating and move together with the dancers, generating a chain reaction of dancing, movement, and walking compositions. The initiative of the Street Horizons brings together active social groups of Piraeus, in their shared effort to gaze at the horizon in a different manner.
The choreography is conceived as a way of collective organization. Dance is viewed as a social event. Individuals become a source of inspiration, a context wherein people can dance, co-exist and suggest a new “horizon” of collaboration, expression, and communication. The potentialities for freedom of the body are explored by way of dancing within the very context that constrains the body. Through actively involving human bodies in the negotiation of freedom, dancers and audience, curious and bewildered but unhesitant, will explore these potentialities. The key element is readiness to respond to what is gradually revealed.
